What is EAL – Equine Assisted Learning?

A unique approach to experiential learning where participants are offered safe (physically and
emotionally) experience with horses for the purpose of developing social-emotional skills,
personal development, exploring self-experience in relationship, building of self-
awareness, building awareness of patterns or habits that are no longer serving clients well
and addressing learning goals clients have identified. Supporting participants to be aware of their present experience with acceptance, feelings, thoughts, sensations, beliefs, behaviours, acknowledging them and giving them choice on how to respond.

EAL provides a natural, non-judgemental, non threatening environment promoting
mindfulness, self esteem, confidence, trust and self belief and self worth and supporting people to reconnect to the present moment.
The purpose of our sessions is to enrich personal growth, develop social / emotional skills and help with nervous system regulation as well as to work with any blocks or growth edges one is experiencing in their life.
To hold space for other people opening our hearts, offering unconditional support and letting go of judgement and control, we are willing to walk alongside another person in whatever journey they’re on without judging them, making them feel inadequate, trying to fix them or trying to impact the outcome.
Developing & deepening presence is essential for healthy relationships and Equine
Assisted Learning is a safe place to explore this realm.

Horse Wisdom

This is an experimental learning program offering participants the opportunity to
experience a new way of being and behaving through experiments with horses.
we will be observing and interacting with horses with plenty of touching, grooming and leading the horses. The program is run outdoors, in nature with opportunity to build, create and learn lots of new skills.
This program is not a course in horse riding or horse training, however the sessions will be full of educational pieces improving participant’s knowledge of horses and herd behaviour. A social and emotional learning program where participant’s discover how horses survive and thrive and learn how we can adapt these attributes to our day to day lives to improve our health and wellbeing.

The Horse Wisdom Program can be run in individually or in groups.
It is a particularly beneficial for adolescents in transitional years, year 6, 9 and 12.
